Official position on military recruiting in schools:

The Desert Greens Program supports the rights of parents and students with regards to Section 9528 of the No Child Left Behind Act (Armed Forces Recruiter Access to Students and Student Recruiting Information) in the following ways:

* Parents and students have the right to be free of military recruiting in schools.
* Parents and students have the right to opt out of having the student's name, address and telephone number released to the military by a school which the student attends.
* Parents and students have the right to be notified, in a separate mailing by the school, of the option to opt out of the military recruiting clause in the No Child Left Behind Act.

The GPUT will make every effort to educate the public about Section 9528 in the NCLB and will provide materials, including opt out forms, for the public's access.
This position supports the values of Non-Violence, Personal and Global Responsibility and Quality of Life.
